ok so I tried deleting the crash handler, that didn't work. Then I looked into windows 10 and saw that it cost $139.00 and nope'd right out of that. Then I went into windows updates to see if I needed to update any of my software or files, and apparently I needed to update a TON of stuff. So I spent several hours updating every program that could have even been remotely related to my issue. And now it works!! Finally got it fixed for both EC 1&2. Just figured I'd update you so you can suggest updating files/drivers/software/programs/etc if someone has this problem in the future. 

ok, I tried messing with the graphics card settings, I tried disabling/uninstalling antivirus software, amd I tried running the game in windows safe mode. It works in safe mode, but of course there's no sound! So I've been trying to troubleshoot and delete/uninstall unused programs that might be interfering with the game. But so far I've had no luck at all. I've been at this all day....any other insights or ideas?? 

I am running a 64bit version of windows 7 on a laptop. I downloaded both EC1 and EC2, unzipped the files, and tried playing. After double clicking on the Application file to start the game, I get a window where I can shoose my resolution and graphics level. After selecti f those and clicking OK, the window goes away and the game icon appears down in the low bar, but nothing happens. If I click on the icon in the low bar a black screen will appear and my cursor turns into the blue loading circle. I can wait as long as I want but it never loads. There is no sound either. If I click the mouse the black screen turns white, and I get an error message saying that the program is not responding and I can force close or wait for the program to respond.  I have tried launching both games on dozens of different combinations of graphics levels and screen resolutions. I have tried deleting and re downloading the games. I have tried unzipping them with different types of zip extractors. No matter what I do I get the same result. And the wierdest thing is I have dowoaded other games that use the unity engine and they launch and play just fine. Please help!! I'm not super tech savvy but I really want to play these games. Thanks!
